Job Description


ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Siding Crew Lead to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll be the boots-on-the-ground leader guiding our siding crew to deliver precise, efficient, and high-quality siding installations for custom homes and multifamily builds. The ideal candidate is an experienced siding installer who is comfortable reading plans, leading people, solving problems, and pushing for excellence every day.

This position plays a key role in maintaining our high standards, driving project timelines, and mentoring the next generation of builders in the field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Planning

  • Lead and supervise a siding crew to complete exterior installations on time and to spec

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite

  • Spark energy, accountability, and momentum within your crew

  • Work closely with Project Supervisors and other trades to keep work flowing

  • Adapt and adjust site strategies as needed to ensure quality and efficiency

Installation & Technical Work

  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and material layouts

  • Install various types of siding materials (lap, panel, shake, board & batten, etc.) with attention to detail and building science best practices

  • Ensure flashing, moisture barriers, and trim details are executed correctly

  • Address and resolve installation issues in real time

Quality & Communication

  • Double-check alignment, spacing, and finish for every install

  • Communicate clearly with your team and other crews onsite

  • Use StoneMill’s workflow and checklist tools to maintain job consistency

  • Be a key driver of quality control and field performance

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

Must-Haves

  • 4+ years’ experience in residential or commercial siding (including lap, vertical, fiber cement, or wood siding)

  • Prior leadership or crew management experience

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents

  • Strong understanding of weatherproofing and envelope systems

  • Committed to being reliable, detail-oriented, and adaptable

  • Willingness to embrace StoneMill methods—and offer feedback to improve them

Availability

  • Must be willing to occasionally work Fridays or Saturdays to meet project goals

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

After 6 months:

  • Paid Holidays (New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

After 1 year:

  • Up to 40 hours Paid Vacation (accrual-based)

  • Simple IRA Retirement Plan – StoneMill matches contributions up to 3%

After 2 years:

  • Eligibility for Quarterly Profit Sharing Bonus

After 5 years:

  • Paid Vacation increases to 80 hours/year (accrual-based)

Expected Compensation: $26–$33/hour + cash awards (quarterly profit sharing) + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on individual factors including experience, skills, resources and knowledge. The total compensation package may also include other elements dependent on the situation and details will be provided if you receive an offer of employment.
